Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

With thankful hearts, we come before You today to worship and honor You because of Your amazing love. Thank You for loving mankind even though we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. Thank You for demonstrating Your love by sending Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our salvation.

As I study today’s lesson, open my understanding to see the greatness, depth, and power of Your love. Help me not only to receive Your love but also to share it with others who need the message of the Gospel.

Teach me to live a life that reflects Christ’s love in my family, church, workplace, business, and community.

May my life become a testimony of Your grace and mercy.

In the precious name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I pray.

Introduction

The love of God is the heart of the Gospel message.

The Bible does not begin with man’s love for God. It begins with God’s love for man. Before we ever searched for Him, He already reached out to us.

John 3:16 is one of the greatest verses in all Scripture because it reveals the greatest love ever demonstrated, the greatest gift ever given, and the greatest promise ever offered.

God loved the world.

This does not mean that God approves of the sinful ways of the world. Rather, it means that God loves every person and desires that all people would come to repentance and receive salvation through Jesus Christ.

The greatest proof of God’s love was not found in words but in action.

God gave His only begotten Son.

Jesus Christ willingly came into this world, lived a perfect life, suffered on the cross, died for our sins, and rose again so that everyone who believes in Him may receive eternal life.

The message of Christianity is not simply:

“God loves good people.”

The message of the Gospel is:

“God loves sinners and provides salvation through Jesus Christ.”

What Does “Love” Mean?

Transliteration:
agapaō

Pronunciation:
ag-ap-ah’-o

Meaning:

The word ἀγαπάω (agapaō) means:

• To love sacrificially
• To love with commitment
• To seek the highest good of another
• To love without selfish motives
• To demonstrate love through action

This word describes the perfect love of God.

God’s love is not based on human goodness or human effort. His love flows from His holy character.

God did not love us because we deserved it.

God loved us because He is loving.

Biblical Doctrine

The Love of God Is the Beginning of Salvation

The plan of salvation began in the heart of God.

The Apostle John wrote:

“We love him, because he first loved us.”
— 1 John 4:19 (KJV)

Our love for God is only a response to His love for us.

God’s love moved Him to send Christ.

Christ’s love moved Him to die on the cross.

The Holy Spirit’s love moves Him to draw sinners to salvation.

The entire Trinity works together to demonstrate God’s love toward humanity.

Why Is God’s Love Important?

1. God’s Love Reveals His Character

The Bible declares:

“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
— 1 John 4:8 (KJV)

Love is not merely something God does.

Love is part of who God is.

Everything God does is consistent with His perfect nature.

His holiness is loving.

His correction is loving.

His forgiveness is loving.

His salvation is loving.

2. God’s Love Gave the Greatest Gift

John 3:16 says:

“That he gave his only begotten Son…”

God gave what was most precious to Him.

Jesus Christ was not only a teacher or religious leader.

He is the eternal Son of God who came to save sinners.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8 (KJV)

The cross is the greatest evidence of God’s love.

At Calvary, Jesus took our place.

He received the punishment we deserved so that we could receive the salvation we did not deserve.

3. God’s Love Offers Salvation to Everyone Who Believes

John 3:16 declares:

“That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The word “whosoever” shows the universal invitation of the Gospel.

Salvation is available to:

• The rich and the poor
• The educated and the uneducated
• Every nation and every people
• Anyone who places their faith in Jesus Christ

No sin is greater than God’s grace.

No person is beyond God’s reach.

The love of God reaches the sinner, restores the broken, and gives hope to the hopeless.

God’s Love and Business for Christ

As believers, especially those involved in business and leadership, we must remember that our greatest purpose is not only financial success but eternal influence.

A Christian businessman should represent Christ through:

• Honesty
• Integrity
• Compassion
• Fairness
• Servant leadership

People should see God’s love through the way we treat them.

Our business becomes a ministry when Christ is the center of our decisions.

A successful business may build a reputation, but a Christ-centered business can build a testimony.

Practical Application

As you reflect on God’s love today, ask yourself:

• Do I truly appreciate God’s love demonstrated through Jesus Christ?

• Am I thankful for the salvation I have received?

• Do people see Christ’s love through my actions?

• Am I willing to share the Gospel with others?

• Does my daily life reflect the love of God?

God’s love was given to us so that it may also flow through us.

A person who understands God’s love cannot remain unchanged.

1 John 4:7–11

Today, choose one person and demonstrate Christ’s love through:

• Encouragement
• Kindness
• Forgiveness
• Prayer
• Sharing the Gospel

Remember:

The world needs more than people who talk about God’s love. The world needs believers who live God’s love.

Closing Prayer

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. Thank You for sending Jesus Christ to become the sacrifice for my sins.

Help me to understand more deeply the greatness of Your love. Teach me to love others with humility, patience, and compassion.

May my words, actions, family, business, and ministry reflect the love of Christ.

Use my life to share the Gospel and point others toward the salvation found only in Jesus Christ.
